Windows 2000 - is that the same as ME?
Any way having trouble using DOS programs get S32EVNT1.DLL error.
Got information to go into Regedit and delete the S32EVNT1.dll
Did that and now get this error.
System\currentcontrolset\control\virtualdevicedrivers. VDD . Virtual Device
Driver format in the registry is invalid. choose close to terminate the
application. Then it gives the Close or Ignore.

Can anyone help on this. I understand it has to do with symantec which we
no longer use.

thanks.

No - Nothing like. Two completely different operating systems.

Try uninstalling your Symantec software (as you no longer use it) and see if
the error report goes with it.

But you don't state which OS you're using anyway - 2000 of WinMe so don't
know if this might help - although it does refer to XP
Error: "S32evnt1.dll. An installable Virtual Device Driver failed DLL
initialization"

nor do you tell us what/who told you to delete S32EVNT1.DLL, nor why.

You *might* need to re-install your Symantec software and then immediately
uninstall it for a completely successful clear-out.

This is a Symantec dll. It installs from "System Works" in both Symantec
program files and unfortunately in Windows System. You might need to
reinstall System Works, then use the Norton uninstaller. Do not use "add,
delete" in the control panel. Might be of further help if you can describe
the DOS problem you're having. Symantec has some excellent stuff for large
business users. Unfortunately their consumer software was NG until 2008. Too
late for old OSs.

Even after uninstall, older Symantec software is notorious for leaving huge
quantities of stuff lying around the system!
ASSuming that the software in question is NAV or related stuff, then use the
Norton Removal Tool after first using the uninstaller - this should get rid
of most of the remains. NOTE that it automatically removes ALL Norton
programs - so use with caution!

There are ways to retrieve the deleted 'dll', which I think ought to be done
first and then take things from there, as Noel suggested.
The error obviously points at the missing dll.
But: no warranties expressed here.

Harry.
