Vista doesn't recognioze Eudora

Post by pyotr filipivich »

That's the current problem - Windows doesn't recognize Eudora, even
after I reinstall it. Keep having to authorize the Program every time
I start it. Annoying, to say the least.

And then it squawks about not being able to rename MAPI,.dll

Anyone have any ideas on how to shut down UAC for this program?

There are two things to remember about History, and both are cliches:
The First is "After all, these are Modern Times."
The Second is "The good Old Days, they were Better."

What does Eudora support say?
http://www.eudora.com/techsupport/

What version?

Looked at this?
http://eudorabb.qualcomm.com/showthread.php?t=7357

In other words - this is really a Eudora issue. ;-)

Make sure you have the latest Eudora setup exe, 7.1.0.9 for Windows.
Uninstall your current Eudora setup.
Right-click the setup exe and 'Run as administrator'.
When you get to the install location screen DON'T let it install to Program Files.
Install to C:\Users\Your Account Name Folder.
On the next screen ensure that mail, settings, etc. are stored in the Users folder.
It should now run with no nags.

Done, done, and done. I don't recall if I ran setup specifically
as administrator.

I finally went in and shut off the UAC.

But I may try that "Install as Administrator." step. (I'm running
the latest and Greatest Eudora 7.1.0.9.

Thanks for the response.
