[ I cannot run vcredist because I am on a PC that I do not have administrator access to! ]
GTAIV.exe is the main executable for Grand Theft Auto IV.
Running GTAIV.exe gives me this message: The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.
Here are the Event Viewer logs:
Activation context generation failed for [Directory to GTAIV.exe]. Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.ATL,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
I've tried putting DLLs into the root directory of where the exe is located, that worked with GTA San Andreas, and I just copied the dlls I used for San Andreas into GTA IV, but still, running GTA IV causes the SxS error.
I have also downloaded the MSVCR80.dll version 8.0.50727.762 and the MSVCP80.dll version 8.0.50727.762 and the MSVCM80.dll version 8.0.50727.762 and put them in my game files, and it still had the SxS error
Can anyone help me out by sending all of the version 8.0.50727.762 DLLs that I can use to put into the game directory? Thanks.
(Please ONLY send me the 8.0.50727.762 DLLs, and include all of them)

Re: HELP Running GTAIV.exe gives me an SxS error (Side-By-Side Configuration)
The error you're encountering is related to a missing or incorrect version of the Visual C++ runtime libraries, specifically version 8.0.50727.762 of the Microsoft VC80 ATL assembly. Since you're unable to install the official vcredist due to a lack of administrator access, manually adding DLLs might not resolve the issue completely because the side-by-side configuration errors usually relate to missing manifest files or incorrect registry entries, which are part of the installation process for Visual C++ Redistributable packages.

Since you mentioned that you don't have administrator access to run vcredist, I would recommend reaching out to the administrator or IT support for assistance with installing the necessary components.

Re: HELP Running GTAIV.exe gives me an SxS error (Side-By-Side Configuration)
I would advise contacting the administrator or IT support for help installing the required components, as you said that you lack administrator permission to execute vcredist.
Re: HELP Running GTAIV.exe gives me an SxS error (Side-By-Side Configuration)
The SxS error for GTAIV.exe occurs due to a missing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (version 8.0.50727.762). Since you lack admin rights to install it, manually placing the required DLLs (MSVCR80.dll, MSVCP80.dll, MSVCM80.dll) and the corresponding manifest file in the game directory might resolve the issue.

The GTA IV SxS error means missing Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable. Lacking admin rights hinders direct installation. Try copying specific DLLs (MSVCR80, MSVCP80, MSVCM80, ATL, MFC80, MFC80U) from a working system's System32 folder to your GTA IV game directory.
