Re: Time Sync Issue (w32tm debug help)
Hi Mark,
Thank you for your reminder. I have received your email and I have replied
to you. It seems a communication problem was occurred again between us.
Hope it's a temporary issue.
I re-posted my reply on 07/03/2009 as follows.
Thanks.
--------------------------------------------------
Hi Mark,
Thank you upload registry file to skydrive.
I have downloaded and check edit carefully and found the following abnormal
key value.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\w32time\Config\"MaxNegP
haseCorrection"=dword:0000d2f0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Config\PhaseCor
rectRate=dword:00000001
According to Technet->Network Configuration Technologies->Windows Time
Service Tools and Settings
(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libr ... S.10).aspx), the
value of MaxNegPhaseCorrection should be 54,000 and PhaseCorrectRate should
be 7. Could you please modify it to test the issue?
Does it work? Thank you for your cooperation.

Re: Time Sync Issue (w32tm debug help)
Robinson -
Thanks. It seems that 0000d2f0 is the 54000. I did make the other change
and rebooted. I still receive an error on trying to update the time.
Thanks again

Re: Time Sync Issue (w32tm debug help)
Hi Mark,
After discussing with my colleagues, they suggest you take a in place
upgrade to troubleshoot the issue. Could you please try to take it?
In-place Upgrade Installation
===============================
Technically, you won't lose any data to take an In-place Upgrade
Installation. In order to avoid any unexpected problem. I suggest you
backup your data before taking In-place Upgrade Installation.
1. Start the computer by using the current Operating System.
2. Insert the Windows Vista DVD in the computer's DVD drive.
3. Use one of the following procedures, as appropriate:
If Windows automatically detects the DVD, the Install now screen appears.
Click Install now.
If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps:
a. Click Start, click Run, type Drive:\setup.exe, and then click OK.
Note Drive is the drive letter of the computer's DVD drive.
b. Click Install now.
4. When you reach the "Which type of installation do you want?" screen,
click Upgrade to upgrade the current operating system to Windows Vista.
Hope it helps.
Best regards,
Robinson Zhang

Re: Time Sync Issue (w32tm debug help)
Robinson -
Thanks. I think I may leave it this way. Once we get to reinstalling the
OS, that scares me in terms of what may happen to my configuration. I did a
reinstall for Outlook when it was hanging with exchange, but for the time.
I appreciate all of the assistance as I had hoped it would be easier to
debug and resolve. I wish it gave more info on what is going on. I just
don't see the traffic even going out from the UI.
Thanks

Re: Time Sync Issue (w32tm debug help)
Hi Mark,
I understand that sometimes troubleshooting can be a bit time-consuming and
the fact that the issue is still not resolved can be frustrating. However,
by performing the previous steps, we have already eliminated some possible
causes of the problem and we are getting closer to a solution. Your
patience and cooperation are highly appreciated.
At same time, I would like to share the following Microsoft KB for you. If
you encounter similar issue, you can refer to them:
