I can log on in safe mode but not normal mode. in normal mode i get two
windows to log to windows and one name windows XP pro. If I click windows it
tell me that I need to replace hal.dll and windows XP pro reboots the system.
I have replace the hal.dll but no help. I have check the boot.ini and it
looks normal.I have tried a clean boot no help.
Does anyone have something else I could try to get windows to boot in the
normal mode?

Richard, did you do a Repair Install of WinXP? Boot.ini is seeing two
versions of XP and is giving you a choice on startup.

Re: windows xp can't see drive C in normal mode
hi
Yes I did but remove it folder and edit the boot.ini The boot reads'
[boot loader]
timeout=3
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
The other day I lost the paritition and fix it with paritition table doctor.
Before that Icould not getto any os.

Richard, if you can boot into Safe Mode try doing a System Restore from
there. In the boot.ini file you could also try changing the partition
value from 1 to 0.
