Since the latetst update of Windows I cannot start Windows XP at all, because
a file <windows-hoofdmap>\system32\hal.dll is damaged or cannot be found. Can
anyone tell me what I should do?

RE: Cannot start Windows
Additional info: I interrupted the update. Reinstalling Windows is the
solution?

Re: Cannot start Windows
Thanks for your reaction. I use SP2 and tried what you described. However, I
kept pressing the R-button what resulted in a restart that was stopped
accompanied by beeps. As soon as I stopped pressing the R button the restart
was continued until the meaasge that the hal.dll file was missing. Any idea?
