A few days ago, upon startup, XP is diplaying a box named "common". I want
to make it stop. The entire sting is C:/program files/common/system/ADO/ and
has one file...msadox.dll
What's up on the one hand, how do I make it stop appearing on the other?
Thank you.

Use System Restore to return your machine to a point before this box started
appearing.

No joy. Selected a date prior to first occurrence and did a restore. When
system came back up I received a message that "XP could not restore so no
changes have been made."

Re: Unwanted Dropdown at startup
Hi,
Are you speaking of the msconfig utility common box?
If so, you can remove the runkeys, etc from:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SharedTools\MSConfig\startupfolder
I also have a small script written by Bill James on line 148 (right hand
side):
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm that will do the same.
