I am trying to install an old Win95 application that I have installed
many times on many different machines and different versions of
MSwindows including XP. However today I tried to install it on
and XP machine and got the below message that I have never seen
before.........
C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\s32evnt1.dll. An installable Virtual Device
Driver failed DLL initialization. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application
CLOSE IGNORE
So I chose ignore and the installation went ok. Does anyone know what this
is referring to ? I don't even have Symantec on this machine and it is an
Autodesk product I'm installing.

You evidentally did have Symantec installed at one time. My advice is if you
do not have it installed then download the Symantec removal tool then see if
that makes a difference.
