Hi for no apparent reason my sound has stopped working. I have scanned
for viruses, malware and spyware, installed the latest drivers for the
on board sound card etc etc but still no sound. Having gone to control
panel, system, hardware and device manager I have found the following
is not being installed when windows loads, sorry it is such a long
list. All of the files listed below are present in the folders
c:\windows\system32 and c:\windows\SysWOW64
I have tried SFC /scannow but it did not solve my problem.

Audio Codec's
Imaadp32.acm
Msadp32.acm
Msg711.acm
Msgsm32.acm
Tssoft32.acm
Microsoft PCM Converter

Legacy Audio drivers
Nothing

Legacy video capture devices
Wdm video for windows capture driver win32

Media control devices
Mviavi32.dll
Mcicda.dll
Mciseq.dll
Mciwave.dll

Video codec's
Iyuv_32.dll
Msrle32.dll
Msvidc32.dll
Msyuv.dll
Tsbyuv.dll

I would appreciate help as I am lost as to what is gone wrong.

Go to the manufacturers site and enter in the model of your computer and
download the audio drivers again.

Check in Device Manager for the name of the audio device and see if
there is an exclamation mark next to it.

Troubleshooting failure of sound is difficult because there are
so many software and hardware features interact, from the
speaker plug in the right socket to the necessary codecs.
Not least, my experience has been that sound-on-board is
likely to fail in 20 per cent of motherboards. This requires
disabling SoB in BIOS before you add a PCI audio card.

You need a reliable checklist, so as to test components
in the right order. See PC Help Desk in a Book. (Que.)
