I uninstalled old RichFX player from Add/Remove programs(there was just
entry in Add/Remove program list, but was no program itself in Program
files). The confirmation was shown that program was uninstalled.
Uninstallation removed also RichFX folder from C:\Program Files\Common
Files\
Amongst other files there was NPVPG004.DLL in that folder.
I searched for NPVPG004.DLL in registry, and it show a vast quantity of keys
referred to this NPVPG004.DLL,

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{47f591a1-8783-11d2-8343-00a0c945a819}\ToolboxBitma
p32]
@="C:\\PROGRAM FILES\\COMMON FILES\\RICHFX\\NPVPG004.DLL, 1"
etc
Is there other programs that may use this NPVPG004.DLL? Is it safe to
remove all these keys that referred to NPVPG004.DLL?

Do a Google search on that particular DLL and see if any are mentioned.

I wouldn't if I were you, unless you are POSITIVELY sure that nothing else
uses it. When in doubt, leave it be.

1. We assume you back up the whole Registry before
making changes, just in case our advice is wrong . . .
2. Yes, it is safe to remove all keys that specify \RICHFX\\NPVPG004.DLL.
If any other app calls NPVPG004.DLL you can be reasonably
sure there is another copy in another path.
(3. We cannot advise whether some other app calls this DLL
because we do not know what apps you have installed.)

My first impression from the filename was that it may be
Netscape/Mozilla plugin for your browser.

R-click the file and examine its Properties.

....that .dll has to do with RichFX Player & RichFX AutoUpdate. And the
way to uninstall them is...

RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\RichFX\npvpg004.dll,Uninstall_Player
RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\RichFX\Player\npvpg004.dll,Uninstall_Player

RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\RichFX\Player\npvpg004.dll,Uninstall_AutoUpdate

You paste those into a run box ("START button, Run") & hit enter. The
first two get rid of the player. You choose the one that has the correct
path to the .dll -- or substitute your path, if different. The third
gets rid of the AutoUpdate. Again, substitute your path, if different.
That is what Add/Remove should have done -- but try it anyway, if you
still have a copy of npvpg004.dll. After that, try...

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\Regsvr32.exe /u /i npvpg004.dll

....which might unregister the .dll (remove it from the registry),
according to...

Google has about 9,100 for uninstall RichFX.

Read through a bunch & get back to us with a plan. If it comes to
manually removing those registry entries, what you've posted is one of
probably many CLSIDs -- those are complex! I'd want to delete the ones
that apply to RichFX Player at the CLSID level. The one you posted would
be...

....& I'd want to search for the CLSID number & delete that too, if it
exists in other keys. Definitely, backup the registry first...!...

(1) "START button, Run, ScanReg"
Offers to make a new backup.

(2) "START, Find, RB???.cab"
Shows the current registries. Copy the newest one
that is in C:\Windows\SysBckUp to a safe location,
because the system only keeps five. The oldest of
the five is deleted on the 1st successful boot to
Windows per day. Also, step (1) deletes the oldest.
And even a registry restore will delete the oldest
to make room for saving the current registry at
the time of the restore.

Now, do your registry deletes (if it comes to that) & run for a while to
be sure all is OK. Don't do any major install or uninstall until you are
willing to forgo the backup you have made & protected -- because it
won't be reflected in there. To restore the protected one, you'd have to
copy it back into C:\Windows\SysBckUP -- & remove one of the others --
because only 5 are offered by the ScanReg /Restore process.
