Vista wont load after windows update installed

Post by 2jobs6kids »

Today Windows said I needed to install some items to update but one failed.
I clocked try to install again and it suggested I restart. After restarting,
Vista would not boot. Only a black screen. I restarted with F8 and got only
2 choices: repair or start normal. Starting normal starts this black screen
with a typr of file filtering that says: !! 0xc0190036 !! ###/87982
(filename.dll). I tried to repair, but it goes through and clicking finish,
it restarts and the same thing starts over! the black screen with files
running. the ### area changes and the filename, but it will stick on one and
continue to flash but not change. It is like the system is trying to repair
itself but it is stuck there. This only happed after Windows said it had to
install updates! Please Microsoft help me, as my laptop is how I make my
primary income and I can't afford tech support! I have Vista Home Premium
running system.

ok got to System recovery options in repair mode. No luck still. The
startup repair tries but no luck. Says it could not detect a problem.
ThenSystem Restore has the time of Install: Windows service pack 1, so this
is what caused my original problem. It has no date previous to this, and it
will not allow me to type in a date. It says didn not complete successfully.
Would like to use Command Prompt. Anyone got a clue here

If Windows update broke your system you need a Vista DVD to boot from

(If you haven't use this Vista Recovery CD Avilabale from here...

http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-v ... -download/ )

Once you have booted up with the Vista DVD / Recovery Disc

Hit Repair Options and select command prompt

Now type in

C:
cd Windows\WinSXS
del pending.xml

Boot disk command prompt c: cd cindows cd winsxs and del pendingf.xls

Maybe it can fix the problem.
