Is there a Safari browser for Win98se?

I'd like to try another browser. I cant stand IE. I like Firefox,
but they dont make new versions for 98 anymore. Plus FF is the
slowest loading prgm. I have never liked Opera and never will.

Everything else I find is just another Mozilla browser, such as
Netscape (which I used years ago), Sea Monkey (which from the
description is similar to FF with email and usenet software added. (I
dont need that, I use Agent and Eudora).

I did look at an extensive web list of browsers and it seems most are
just front ends for IE, or another Mozilla thing similar to FF. The
only other one that has any notority seems to be Safari (made by
apple). But their latest version needs XP or higher. They dont show
any of the older versions to download. Anyone know where I might find
an older version?

What else is there? Yea, there' Chrome, but that needs XP or higher
too. I did download something called Cafe Kiosk. It says its for
Win98 all the way up to Win7. I installed it twice and it will not
work. Some error about a missing DLL, yet the DLL is right there in
the directory. So, that one got deleted.

What else is there?

Never liked Opera either ... but with regard to FF I've found MANY things
can affect the load time including what ADDON(s) you've installed, how
they're configured and how FF is configured (also remember, many
configuration adjustments are available only through about:config).

I did a LOT of research via google about a year ago and came up with all
sorts of mods, which worked to decrease load time! In fact FF was so slow on
my 600MHz, 384MB ram PC it took longer for FF to load than the W98 OS. It
was sooo painful. That time was cut nearly in half with mods. On my W98
laptop setup, 2GHz, 2GB ram with mods, load time is 12 seconds (upon first
load), after that it's mere seconds (4).

Don't pass on FF so quickly, I think it's perhaps the best browser for W98!

I wont pass on FF. I've used it for too long and I do like the
features. But as my default browser I have IE. Far too often I click
on web links from newsgroups, then I get pissed because I got to sit
and wait, and wait and wait for FF to load.

If I'm planning to spend time on th web, then I load FF ONCE and live
with the slow loading. I'm running a 1ghz PIII with 512M Ram, and
win98se. I also can dual boot to Win2000. FF is slow on either OS.
I have less plugins installed on the Win2K install because I dont use
it often (I prefer Win98).

I think I found a partial solution. I just installed K-melion. Not a
bad browser at all, loads fast, and I plan to set that as my default
browser now so I dont have to use IE.

This is not the slowest computer for it's age. I keep startup entries
minimal. So it's not the computer. I have FF 2.0.0.19 (for some
reason I had troubles with the last "2" version of FF. I forget what
it was now, but this is one of their last ones in the "2" series.

Yeah, it does take almost as long for FF to load as does Win98.

Can you please explain what you mean by MODS and what to do. You kind
of lost me there.

The BEST thing about Opera is that it's not included with Windows and
no one is forcing you to install it. Thank God MS chose Internet
Explorer, and not Opera to include with Windows. (and I hate IE).
