I cannot run my embroidery software after the Win 10 Fall creators Update. It is Brother PE Design 10 (updated for Win 10). Three units of the program work fine, but Layout and Editing will not work and I get above error in the Event Viewer. I actually located the missing file in the above WinSxS folder. My computer is 64 bit, but I the above programme is x86 (32 bit). I have tried reinstallations, etc., but nothing works. If your software would help me, could you please tell me, what to get and how I can order the missing file. Thanks helgaursula

Re: comctl32.dll version not listed and I cannot request it
Hello helgaursula,
The file available at C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_5.82.16299.19_none_2c2d4ca717b1155e\comctl32.dll is a 32bit dll file.
Appcrash errors like this one can be tricky, and are commonly not caused by the mentioned dll file, this is just where the program stops.
My advice is to make sure you are fully up to date with Windows Updates, and that you make sure your drivers for audio and video are the latest available.

Re: comctl32.dll version not listed and I cannot request it
Hello, the problem occurred after the latest Win 10 Fall Creators Update. As I have a broken wrist, I did not use the Brother program for a while. The program consists of different parts, which all work fine, but the one called "Layout and Editing" opens briefly and then closes. Reinstallations don't help. When I run the Windows Troubleshooter, I get message that program is not compatible. helgaursula
