Hi,

In the last 2 days with no new programs or hardware being installed my
XP PRO 2 has crashed.

Every time is has been whilst I have been using FF 3.07. I get a
Mozilla Message about the crash and to either Quit or Restart FF.

When I restart the system goes black and reboots. When I touch Quit, FF
goes but I can resume with XP.

I checked the Event Viewer and didn't find anything to do with FF but
found some of these.

Maybe they tell a story.. They were not in this order..

I am also posting this with Mozilla.

Hi Rock,
You either have the hDD going bad and I hope you backed up your data. You
need to run chkdsk /r or this command from the run command box:
sfc /scannow

Try to eliminate hardware by starting the machine with the basic devices by
performing clean Boot.

Make sure the machine malware/virus free by doing these cleaning steps:
1... Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced .

Click on General Tab (1st Tab on the left) and you will see a Button called
[ Clear History ..] click on it to clear your History caches, then click on
[Delete Files..] to delete Internet Files created over the time, click on [
Delete Cookies...] to delete your cookies left by visiting websites.

Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
= Then try to Disable the Add-Ons on your Browser somehow installed on your
browser, On how to disable the Add-ons follow this:
Click on Programs Tab and then click the Manage Add-Ons Button there Disable
the None/Not Verified Plug-ins/Add-ons ( you need to Renable them one-by-one
later and see which is the culprit .

Hey, thanks. I'll give all that a go and hopefully it is not the drive
itself. Yes I do auto backups every night with SyncBackPro so have
covered. It is just a pain when they do go.

I have all my drives in trays except C: with XP, so in a way, hopefully
it may be the tray itself. I have had them a while so will also try a
new one to see what goes, if the disc turns out to be right.

I also use CC every day for the registry, Adware for the leaches and
Eset for the viruses. So I am pretty careful, after so many problems
over the last 20 years. I'll give those others a go as well, can't be
too careful.
