Inspiron 530
Running Vista Home Basic SP1
When trying to open Control panel from the Start, Programs Menu, or
right click on Computer to go to System Properties, I get the following
message in a small window:
Control.exe
shdocvw.dll not found - reinstalling may fix the problem
The shdocvw.dll file is in Windows\system32 directory , but I cannot
replace it nor delete it even in safe mode.It says I don't have
permission to edit, rename it, or delete it.
I am also getting a window when I right click on Computer and try to go
to Properties/System properties.It says Control.exe - unable to locate
component.Application failed to start, shdocvw.dll was not found. The
size of the SHODCVW.DLL is 1034KB.
The system is clean otherwise. I have run a complete Avast Antivirus
scan, Malwarebytes scan, Hijackthis, and Windows Defender scan.
