I.E. & Fiefox Browser Problems

Post by searcher7 »

I have a system that has Windows XP installed and "Internet Explorer"
stopped working months ago, but I wasn't concerned with it because I
had Mozilla Firefox installed. Now that brower is not working.

When I attemtpt to start Internet Explorer all I get is a pop-up that
says "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for the inconvenience."(And there is an option to send an
error report to Microsoft).

I used the search on the "Start" Menu which allowed me to download
Windows Explorer 8 again. When I attemtped to install it I get a pop-
up titled "iesetup.exe - Entry Point Not Found" that says:

"The procedure entry point SHRegGetValueW could not be located in the
dynamic library shlwapi.dll." (Also, I cliked on properties on the
I.E. icon and erased something to do with the "path", and now the icon
and the icon on the desktop and on the "Start" menu are non existent.

Also, when I attempt to start Firefox I get a pop-up that syas:
"firefox.exe Bad Image"

"The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\xul.dll is
not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation
diskette."

The only way for me to get online is to use the search feature I
mentioned. But the window will crash if I click anything that is
supposed to bring up another window.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Always state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; WinXP 64-bit SP2)
when posting in a forum or newsgroup. Please do so in your next reply.

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the
computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?

Public Service Warning about PCBUTTS1 (TheRealTruth):

Do you really want to trust someone that was banned from posting
directly to Microsoft Usenet servers, someone that has posted links to
pornographic materials on HIS WEBSITE, who's website is in the MVP HOST
Block list, and who provides a tool for your use that will block access
to reputable anti-malware sites without telling you he's doing it?

Do you really want to trust someone that has had to change their posting
identity after being busted by MS as a fake MVP?

Stalking, even in usenet is a crime, there are enough pages from your
filthy site to prove you're stalking me in your posts, your sig lines
also prove you're stalking me and others.
