Trying it out now, one thing concerns me though. When not using the install
routine I can't help but wonder if any 'new' necessary registry entries
never get installed!

Does anyone know how to get CTRL-ENTER working again in the address bar?
These new files wiped out that functionality!

Ahhh, CTRL-ENTER is not used for paste, it's used in the address bar to help
one quickly complete an address, i.e. type GOOGLE in the address bar of IE
then CTRL-ENTER, you'll see http:/www. is added along with .com.

Type YOUTUBE (CTRL-ENTER) and you can flash to the website. That hotkey also
works in FF, Opera and if I recall, newer IE's

I had to look that one up, but, yea, it should do as you say inside an
IE address bar...

ALT+D: Select the text in the Address bar.
F4: Display a list of addresses you've typed.
CTRL+LEFT ARROW: When in the Address bar,
move the cursor left to the next logical break
in the address (period or slash).
CTRL+RIGHT ARROW: When in the Address bar,
move the cursor right to the next logical break
in the address (period or slash).
CTRL+ENTER: Add "www." to the beginning and ".com"
to the end of the text typed in the Address bar.
UP ARROW: Move forward through the list of AutoComplete matches.
DOWN ARROW: Move back through the list of AutoComplete matches.

But what about all the other shortcuts - did they go too? I've looked
high & low & can't quite find a setting that would turn those shortcut
keys on/off. The closest that looked like it was at...
"Internet Options, Content tab, AutoComplete button, WEB Addresses
checkbox"
....but it failed to affect that functionality one way or the other, that
I could see.

I wonder -- with your new mshtml.dll so bright-- does this site
work...?...
http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Watche ... 4/cat.html

After clicking any wristwatch on that page, the new page begins to draw.
But I soon get a crash due to mshtml.dll -- with the normal Win98
v.6.00.2800.1555 file!

In any case, the application of MS10-018 to a win-98 system does not
break the control-enter url auto-complete function. I have confirmed
this directly, as have others.
