hi guys
i have a HP dc7900 which will not start from a reboot because of a winlogon.exe missing ole32.dll file error. the hp is running a downgrade version of xp from vista.
i have downloaded the ole32.dll from dll-files and unzipped it onto a usb stick and managed to access the recovery console but i receive the following error messages :
copy e:\ole32.dll c:\windows\system32\
the path or file specified is not valid
copy e:\ole32.dll c:\windows\system32\ole32.dll
the path or file specified is not valid
can i load the ole32.dll from a usb stick? or can you see any coding problem?
cheers in advance
marco

Re: winlogon.exe ole32.dll missing
hello again
managed to sort this by removing the hard drive, inserting it into a caddy and manually inserting the dll into the system32 file using another pc.
so resolved now, thanks for looking.
